Important Rules/Etiquette examples that you need to know before playing in competition:
- What do the different colored stakes on the course mean (white, yellow and red), and if you hit your ball into one of these areas, what are your playing options?
- Know how to play "preferred lies" golf - what does this mean (a form of "winter rules" you will be playing in many of the golf tournaments)?
- If you hit your ball and can not find it (lost ball), what are your options, and what is the penalty?
- Make sure you know the proper playing etiquette - Low score on previous hole tee's off first -- On the fairway and greens, who ever is "away," or farthest from the hole, hit's next.
